Using the IR spectroscopy method we have shown that at low temperatures metallocenes (η5-C5H5)2M (M=V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) form complexes with O2 in which the O2 molecule is coordinated to the metal atom through one of the oxygen atoms, forming a complex of the M-O-O type.
