Examples of promising changes in corporate practices are presented, to illustrate that some industrial leaders are taking the first steps toward more environmentally sound products and production practices. The changes essential for sustainability of the common future, the potential for cleaner production within industry, and conclusions from the 2 European experiments in Cleaner Production are discussed.
