The effect of microchannel plates (MCP) design on the microreactor efficiency in the reaction of steam reforming of methanol (SRM) was studied. The expts. were performed using a cylinder microreactor with disk-type MCP and a microreactor with rectangular MCP supplied with parallel slot channels with Cu/ZnO catalyst. The highest efficiency of the SRM was obtained in microreactor with the rectangular MCP contg. slot channels. The study of the influence of the microchannels' cross-section on the SRM efficiency revealed that the increase of the channel depth results in the decrease of hydrogen prodn. The highest efficiency of the microreactor was exhibited for the plates with microchannels of 0.2 mm in depth. At 266°C and 90% of the methanol conversion, the specific hydrogen prodn. (the prodn. of hydrogen per 1 cm3 of the MCP vol.) is 2.3 L/(h*cm3).
