IR spectroscopy has been used to study the gas-phase thermal decomposition of the conformers of butyl azidoformate in the presence of different additives, including olefins. The kinetic parameters were calculated for the process. It is shown that under all the conditions studied, transbutyl azidoformate breaks down to form the nitrene; cis-butyl azidoformate, at T < 406 K, also gives a nitrene regardless of additives; at T > 406 K, a change in the temperature dependence of the thermolysis is observed.
