The kinetics of the chemical reaction of oxygen oxidation of sodium dithionite were investigated by UV spectrophotometry. The limiting stage of oxidation of sodium dithionite in reducing compositions was found. It was shown that the kinetics of oxidation of a reducing agent by oxygen diffusing into the solution from the air is adequately described by a modified film model of mass exchange.
