Abstract: A complex adsorption-structural analysis reveals that silica gels prepared by precipitation via coagels may contain a significant volume of micropores of ≤0.3 nm diameter. The texture formation is explained by silicate hydrolysis, sol formation and coagulation to gel, all simultaneously occurring during the precipitation.
