Abstract: The sequential oxidation of propylene at 573-​663 K on a catalyst composed of Bi, Co, Fe, and Ni molybdates, K, and P was studied. Formation of acrolein, acrylic acid, HOAc, CO, and CO2 was 1st order in the substrate being oxidized. The oxidation of propylene to acrolein was an autocatalytic process, accelerated by acrolein. H2O vapor increased acid formation, suppressed the complete oxidation of acrolein and HOAc, and did not affect acrylic acid oxidation. Rate constants and activation energies were detected for all steps.
